In the summer of 2015, fleeing from war zones and complete hopelessness, thousands of people arrived in Hungary. They would not have been taken care of or received any support here without the well-organized help of voluntary groups constantly growing in number. People who were fleeing from their homes wanted to stay away from infamous refugee camps and wished to reach, as soon as possible, the Western European countries considered as safe. That is why many of them chose to survive their stay in Hungary in the so called transit zones of the big cities, public spaces easily accessible both to the volunteers and the press.
We aim to present films and stories which show the selfless dedication of the volunteers to help the people who were trapped here, an organized and efficient cooperation unprecedented in present day Hungary. We consider it important to understand the motives behind the alliance of thousands of volunteers, defying the intimidating propaganda of the Hungarian government. We wish to show how these people of all ages, with different mentalities and of different faiths and beliefs unitedly stood by those in need, and how they worked and continue working together to help both asylum seekers and Hungarians coming from a disadvantaged background.
2015 nyarán a háborúk és a teljes kilátástalanság elől menekülő emberek ezrei érkeztek Magyarországra, ahol megfelelő ellátás és alapvető segítség nélkül maradtak volna, ha önkéntesek folyamatosan bővülő csoportjai nem szervezik meg a segítésüket. A menekülő emberek jelentős része nem akart a rossz hírű menekülttáborokba beköltözni; a lehető leghamarabb akartak eljutni a biztonságosnak tekintett nyugat-európai országokba. Így sokan inkább a nagyvárosokban lévő nyilvános, az önkéntes segítők és a sajtó által is könnyen elérhető, úgynevezett tranzitzónákban igyekeztek átvészelni magyarországi tartózkodásukat.
Célunk, hogy az itt bemutatott filmekkel és történetekkel megismertessük az önkéntesek önzetlen, szervezettségét és hatékonyságát tekintve a mai Magyarországon eddig példátlan munkáját, amellyel az itt rekedt embereket segítették. Fontosnak tartjuk megérteni azokat a belső motivációkat, amelyek mentén önkéntesek ezrei fogtak össze, dacolva a kormányzati körök megfélemlítő propagandájával. Szeretnénk megmutatni, hogy ezek az eltérő gondolkozású, életkorú, vallású emberek hogyan álltak ki teljes egyetértésben a bajba jutottak mellett, és hogyan dolgoztak és dolgoznak továbbra is együtt a menekülő emberek és a hátrányos helyzetű magyarok segítésért.
